Heavenly Father Treats Us as Friends
Today's Embrace
"We're speaking for Christ himself now: Become friends with God;
he's
already a friend with you." 2 Corinthians 5:20 Message
Key Thought
That's precisely why Jesus came. He wants to repair our broken relationship.
Our broken friendship. Of course, it wasn't God who broke up the friendship
in the first place. It was our "greeeaaat" grandparents, Adam and
Eve. And then we, individually, have followed suit. So it ought to be us who
is reaching out to restore the relationship. But it's not. It's Heavenly
Father. And He's been treating us as His friends all along. He wants our
relationship healed. He longs for our friendship. He has always looked at us
as friends. Now He wants us to see Him as our friend. How will you respond to
Heavenly Father's efforts to restore your broken friendship with Him?
My Response
Dear Father and Friend,
Thank you for being such a true friend. There have been times
when I've rejected your efforts to restore our friendship. There have been
times when I've pushed you away. There have been times when I've
denied your friendship. And yet, through it all, you've always treated
me as a friend. Thank you, Father, for your friendship. Right now, Lord, I want
to renew our friendship. I want to be a true friend . . .
Remember
Heavenly Father wants my friendship.
